Tonight I'm so excited that you're here my name is Gigi Lewis, I am the Reflections PTSA chairperson. This is my ninth year running Reflections, but the first time I'm trying to do it virtually. I'm trying to learn Google Sheets and how to Zoom and create a video presentation gave me a whole new appreciation and respect for all the teachers and students good job guys seriously, this is not easy. I am going to attempt sharing screen a few times so bear with me for one second while I hopefully push the right button, and here we go I hope you enjoy the show hello my name is Gigi Lewis Thank you so much for coming to join us at our Reflections Program this evening Reflections is a PTA sponsored national art competition since it began in 1969 over 11 million students have entered Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for their original work of art inspired by an annual theme the theme this year is I Matter Because... I think the theme this year is so on point for time and we all just feel like a little boxes on a computer screen Reflections gives kids a chance to step out of the box and get recognized for their talent Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms creating art is a valuable learning process it challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents Reflections Program also helps increase community awareness of the importance of art in Education students can enter in one or more categories visual arts, photography, literature film production, music composition and dance choreography Entries are first judged at the school level by professionals in each field. Selected pieces will move on to district judging and potentially on to state or even national level Winners at the state and National levels can earn cash, trips and even scholarships. Thank you so much for your entry in Reflections I'm so proud of all of you did a great job I hope you enjoy the show I'll see you at the end to present awards. Wasn't that awesome! Absolutely amazing It is now my great pleasure that I get to announce our winners I'm going to share the screen again real quick bear with me Look at those awesome awards aren't those beautiful? Everybody who entered is going to get a certificate in the mail within the next week I will be calling the winners tonight to award sorry to arrange award delivery and now I get to announce our winners I'm very excited in photography we have third-place Abel Aguayo for "Nature" in second place Abril Anavisca for "Nature's Wonder" and in first place Jory Lewis for "Animals" In visual arts third-place Mahalia Mehrabi for “More than I seem” second place Christian Gomez for "Clean Environment" and first place Erica Dominguez for "Peace and Harmony in All the World" and our special artist Redford Luter for “Part of This World” in literature in third place we have Erica Dominguez for the "Christmas Miracle" in second place Abril Anavisca for “Uniquely Different” and in first place Eli Lemus for “A Piece of the Puzzle” In dance choreography first place Abril Anavisca for “Sisters” In music composition third-place Natalie Brito “I Matter Because” second-place Arthur Lusparyan “I Matter Because…” and in first place Abril Anavisca “(don't) Follow the Leader” in Film Production third place Nephertary Castaneda “I Matter Because” second place Christian Rodriguez for "Taking Humans to Mars" in first place Jaden Rivers-Duran for "I Matter Because" Congratulations to all of you.  You all did an amazing job.  Everyone who entered is going to be getting a participation certificate in the mail and like I said I'll be calling all the winners tonight to arrange Awards deliveries. Thank you all for attending our presentation and for supporting the Arts in Mount Gleason Middle School.  Thank you Ms. Minke and Ms. Smart, without your support this event wouldn't have been possible.  Thank you to all of our terrific teachers. Let me cue this up again real quick did I share I don't think I shared wait a minute I'm still trying to figure this out bear with me I want to thank all of our awesome judges Jeff Seibenick, who also helped me make the video, Marcel Valcarce. Thank you I hope you guys all the kids graduations congratulations everybody did such an amazing job I will be calling you all really soon to get you your Awards. Thank you have a great night Congratulations, great work everybody thank your Gigi, you're awesome good night good night Also, can we get a round of applause for Ms. Smart for helping my mom figure out how to use Google Sheets how Thank you Ms. Smart with Google Sheets Are you still there Lisa? Lisa left.  Lisa left. Lisa was just a tremendous help she is the California PTA president and she is the one that helps me figure out the whole Google Sheets and getting the virtual links to all the artwork and getting everything off to the judges and I could not have done it without her. It was lovely and like I said it was very moving. You know we do appreciate it, we know we have amazing kids. Thank you for showcasing that and I'm glad we had such a good turnout Yeah, it was awesome! And we have amazing parents. Yeah well I mean like our whole Community is go because if it wasn't for a whole Community getting behind us and going to all the fundraisers this wouldn't have been possible and I'm I'm I'm so proud of all the kids and how the whole Community just came together to make this pain is just awesome. Won't it be exciting when we get back to normal? Just we're going to be, we're gonna be just be that much more awesome.  Right? Yeah, we are. It's just going to be amazing. And I know you'll be in High School, you know in six months, but you know what?  We're a family so we'll continue with that. Thank you for all you do. I'm trying to talk Vielka, Abril's mom, into taking over Reflections next year and I told her I'd be happy to come back and help so you might not be done with me yet. We don't want to be done with you once a Mustang always a Mustang Yeah!  Take care of everybody, great to see you all Oh, a real cat!! Ms. Smart actually has a real cat Really? Where is it? Oh my....
